Fans are used in stationary ventilation, air conditioning, and air heating systems in residential, public, and industrial buildings with a network of air ducts.

Parallel operation of several fans without network control elements is not recommended.

Under normal conditions, the conveyed medium should not contain sticky substances, fibrous materials, vapors, or dust, should not be more aggressive to carbon steels than air, and should not contain dust or other solid impurities in concentrations exceeding 10 mg/m3.
Fans consist of a housing with a circular cross-section, inside which there is an impeller with blades. The impeller is mounted directly on the motor rotor.
The fan operates by moving a gas-air mixture through the transfer of energy from the impeller. The sucked-in flow goes to the impeller and is discharged into the ventilation system or the room.
